Kampala – Controversial Ugandan musician Patrick Mulwana, popularly known as Alien Skin, and his bodyguard Julius Mugabi, aka Julio, have been remanded to Luzira Prison following charges of grievous harm against doctors at St. Francis Hospital Nsambya. The two appeared before Makindye Chief Magistrate Ms. Esther Adikini on Monday, November 25, 2024, facing accusations related to an assault that took place at the hospital on November 19, 2024.
The charges commence from an incident that went viral on social media, showing Alien Skin and his group storming the hospital and allegedly attacking medical staff. The prosecution claims that Alien, along with Julio and other unidentified individuals, forcibly entered the hospital late on the night of November 19, demanding answers from doctors about the death of their colleague, Joram Tumwesigye, 28, a resident of Makindye Division.
The victims of the alleged attack include Dr. Zaidi Matovu, Alex Odongo, and Anthony Munyanda, all of whom suffered grievous harm. Alien Skin, 30, and Julio were arrested the following day and brought before court, where they denied the charges and sought bail. However, the Magistrate sent them to Luzira Prison until Thursday, November 28, 2024, when she will make a ruling on the Bail application.
In addition to the Nsambya assault case, Alien Skin is also facing charges in a separate robbery case involving Hassan Mubiru’s son, Salim Mubiru. The musician is accused of stealing an iPhone 15 worth UGX 3.5 million, cash, and a national ID on September 28, 2024. His lawyers informed the court that the victim in this case had reconciled with the accused and written to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) expressing lack of interest in pursuing the matter.
