Kampala – Ugandan musician Alien Skin, whose real name is Patrick Mulwana, has been remanded to Luzira Prison following allegations of assaulting medical staff and security guards at Nsambya Hospital on Tuesday.
The incident, which has sparked widespread public outrage, involved the artist and his group, Fangone Forest, allegedly attacking hospital personnel after the death of a fellow group member, Joram Tumwesigye.
On Wednesday evening, Alien Skin appeared before Makindye Magistrate Court where he was formally charged and remanded until December 9, 2024. The charges stem from the altercation at Nsambya Hospital, where Tumwesigye, a member of the Fangone Forest group, was reported to have died from injuries sustained in a truck accident earlier that day.
According to witnesses, Alien Skin and members of his group stormed the hospital in an attempt to retrieve Tumwesigye’s body and obtain an autopsy report. When their demands were not met, the situation escalated, leading to the assault of Dr. Zaidi Matovu and two security guards, Anthony Muyanda and Alex Odongo.
The victims were left injured, with one of the security guards recounting the attack in a video shared on social media. “I was trying to call my people to come and rescue us because these people were very many,” the victim said, visibly distressed.
