Ntungamo – Two people are reported to have died on spot in an accident that occurred this afternoon in
along the Ntungamo-Mbarara road.
The accident according to eyewitnesses happened on Sunday afternoon involving a Toyota
Forester UBN 375Q and a Toyota Hiace drone registration number UBP 314A.
It’s said that the Toyota Hiace was headed to Mbarara from Rukungiri as the Forester was
heading towards the opposite direction when the crash happened.
Rwizi region police spokesperson, Samson Kasasira has since identified the victims as
Manirakiza Moses 29, a mufumbira by tribe, an engineer and resident of Burungu village
muramba sub county in Kisoro district who was driving the Subaru Forester, Twesigye Kenneth
31, an engineer with National Water and Sewerage Corporation and resident of Rwikiniro
village, Ruhaama sub county in Ntungamo district, a passenger in the Subaru Forester.
Samson Kasasira told the press that driver of the Subaru was coming from Mbarara heading to
Ntungamo while it was raining. As he was approaching Kahunga trading center, running water
had covered the road on his lane.
He decided to swave on the right, violating right of way of the oncoming UBP 314A from the
opposite direction and later a head on collision.
Eng. Twesigye Kenneth had been introduced by his fiancé Prize Patience in Rukungiri district a
day before he met his death and the couple was preparing to tie a knot Saturday December 9th
2023 at St. Luke Ntinda.
The taxi driver Mujurizi Herbert aka Rough is said to have survived with broken, numerous
passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Itojo hospital for medical attention.
The two bodies of the deceased persons were conveyed to itojo hospital mortuary pending
postmortem.
